Massive Thanks + Feedback on 2010 AP Clash of the Wallers

Posted by flyin' on Monday, September 27, 2010 in News, Opinion

Congrats once again to all of our Clash contestants, and to our top 3 winners – Tsu, Deto, and dalarty – Jay will be in contact re: your hawt prizes, so keep an eye out for that :) If you have any immediate questions or issues, feel free to shoot us an email.

As co-conspirators for this year’s Clash, Jay and I are really proud of how successful the competition has been. all of this was made possible because of the help, love, and enthusiasm from the community – participants, uber-judges, helpers, and prize donors (Gids and Cy! <3). From the beginning when you guys pitched in to help us make promo siggies and wallies, spammed your friendslists about the competition (seriously, Jay and I were only expecting 10-20 people to join the competition at first!), to the “revival” of many esteemed wallers who joined the competition and/or agreed to judge (the all-star judging line-up turned out to be a VERY happy surprise!), and of course, all the beautiful walls that were made for the competition – it’s been an extremely gratifying 3 months to say the least, and we would like to thank all of you involved for your time and your generosity :)

As the final curtains close on this year’s Clash, we would love to get your feedback about how the competition went for you, and if there’s anything we could improve or change. Also, be sure to vote in the poll below – we’ll definitely take everything into consideration, if we decide to do Clash again next year ;)

Cheers everyone, and… happy walling <3

If we hold the AP Clash of the Wallers competition again next year (in 2011), would you take part?

Immunity Challenge 1 Officially Closed!

Posted by Jay on Friday, July 9, 2010 in News, Opinion, Round 1

Hey hey!!

I hereby officially close the Immunity Challenge for Round 1, and a BIG round of applause for everyone who participated – awesome entries people!!

Before we announce the finalists for Immunity, Flyin and I wanted to address some of the drama that went on this round. While we did receive an overwhelmingly positive response when the walls came in, it seemed there was a bit more drama with the voting process than there should’ve been.

We take feedback seriously. I know I wouldn’t bother submitting my own walls to the AP/MT community if I didn’t care for it. Therefore, it’s just not cool when people take advantage of the polls we use to get this feedback, whether it be via proxies, multiple IPs, multiple computers, friends voting for friends because they’re friends…whatever. That’s just not what this competition is about.

This competition is about breathing life into the walling community again – the sense of friendly competition, camaraderie among wallers with similar interests, and overall just good fun. It’s cliche to say, but I’ll say it anyway: it’s not about winning or losing. It’s about enjoying it.

I hope you get my point :) .

On another note, we’re planning on changing the voting process for Round 2.
The basic equation will go something like this:

Your points = # of Favorites on AP + # of Comments on AP

Would love to hear some feedback from you guys!

Now that the bomb’s been dropped, Flyin will be announcing the final results of the Immunity Challenge really soon, so stay tuned! / o /

Round 1 People’s Choice Voting – Start!!

Posted by flyin' on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in Opinion, Round 1

IC1-Peoples-Choice
(Thanks Phoenix for providing the source image for this banner!)

Round 1 Immunity Challenge is now CLOSED. We received a whopping total of 20 entries! Thanks to all the participants for your enthusiasm this round :D

While Jay and I deliberate on the immunity challenge winner for this round – and rest assured there will be much tearing of hair and agonizing over this decision as all the entries look great – we would like YOU, the Paper People, to cast your votes for your favorite “Blue” walls! The waller with the highest number of People’s Choice votes will receive +5 points to be added onto his or her elimination challenge score, so vote wisely!

UPDATE: Due to the sheer number of immunity entries entered this round (we only expected like, two or three walls to be entered for this lol), Jay and I decided to also give bonus points to the second and third place “People’s Choice” winners 8) The 1st place winner will still receive +5 to their elimination challenge score, but the 2nd place winner will receive +4, and 3rd place +3. Sooo keep voting! Get your friends to vote if you have to ;)

[Poll] Round 1 Start Date?

Posted by flyin' on Monday, May 31, 2010 in Opinion

Looking at the participants sign-up thread, it looks like one of the biggest questions is about the start date. Jay and I have do a start date in mind, but with that said we’d like to take into account people’s schedules and see what the optimal start date would be. So if you have a really strong preference for a start date (or even if you don’t have a really strong preference for a start date), vote on your preferred dates in the poll below!

Keep in mind that we obviously won’t be able to make everyone happy, no matter which start date we pick – but we will definitely take your votes into serious consideration :)

When would you like Elimination Round 1 to start (and end)?

  • Start June 28th, end July 18 (entire competition ends Sep 18th) (35%, 8 Votes)
  • Any of the above dates would work for me! (30%, 7 Votes)
  • Start June 21st, end July 11 (entire competition ends Sep 11th) (17%, 4 Votes)
  • Start June 7, end June 27 (entire competition ends Aug 28th) (13%, 3 Votes)
  • Start June 14th, end July 4 (entire competition ends Sep 4th) (5%, 1 Votes)

Total Voters: 23
