Massive Thanks + Feedback on 2010 AP Clash of the Wallers

Posted by flyin' on Monday, September 27, 2010 in News, Opinion

Congrats once again to all of our Clash contestants, and to our top 3 winners – Tsu, Deto, and dalarty – Jay will be in contact re: your hawt prizes, so keep an eye out for that :) If you have any immediate questions or issues, feel free to shoot us an email.

As co-conspirators for this year’s Clash, Jay and I are really proud of how successful the competition has been. all of this was made possible because of the help, love, and enthusiasm from the community – participants, uber-judges, helpers, and prize donors (Gids and Cy! <3). From the beginning when you guys pitched in to help us make promo siggies and wallies, spammed your friendslists about the competition (seriously, Jay and I were only expecting 10-20 people to join the competition at first!), to the “revival” of many esteemed wallers who joined the competition and/or agreed to judge (the all-star judging line-up turned out to be a VERY happy surprise!), and of course, all the beautiful walls that were made for the competition – it’s been an extremely gratifying 3 months to say the least, and we would like to thank all of you involved for your time and your generosity :)

As the final curtains close on this year’s Clash, we would love to get your feedback about how the competition went for you, and if there’s anything we could improve or change. Also, be sure to vote in the poll below – we’ll definitely take everything into consideration, if we decide to do Clash again next year ;)

Cheers everyone, and… happy walling <3

If we hold the AP Clash of the Wallers competition again next year (in 2011), would you take part?

Jay and I are delighted to announce the final results of 2010 AP Clash of the Wallers! Thanks to all of the contestants for your incredible patience and understanding about the announcement delay as Jay and I worked through our respective Real Life Issues.

We had to use decimal points for the first time this competition to separate out the winners :) dalarty snatched up 3rd place with her dark, original spin on chainsaw-wielding chicks; Deto narrowly beat out dalarty with his brooding, well-crafted “floral” vectors for a 2nd place finish; and Tsu, one of our round 3 secret wildcard agents, ran away with the highest score EVER given by the judging panel with her gorgeous realization of a fantastical scene, and took the extremely well-deserved 1st place win. Congrats to all the winners! Also, congrats to all of our round 3 finalists. There were many beautiful walls this round, so check them all out and give yourselves huge pats on the back. You guys were amazing! Thanks for sticking through these past three months with us, and for making Clash a success :D

One final round of thanks to our awesome panel of uber-judges, who as usual upheld an insanely high standard of scoring and critiquing for this final round of Clash.
All entries were judged by all 11 of our judges, as well as Jay and myself. Each judge was given a minimum # of comments, but were given the option of commenting more if they wished.

For the last time, please post links to your AP-submitted walls here once you’re done uploading so we can pimp them properly! Thanks <3

A Quick Round 3 Update from Jay and flyin’

Posted by flyin' on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in News, Round 3

Hey guys, just wanted to give everyone a quick status update. Nearly all the judges’ scores and comments have been submitted – thank you uber-judges!

As timing would have it, Jay and I both got slammed recently with urgent Real Life issues. There’s been a death in my boyfriend’s family, so we’ve been spending quite a bit of time with his family. Jay is dealing with a different but extremely stressful situation, so waft some love her way.

Having been in you guys’ shoes, we know that waiting for (final) competition results isn’t fun. Given the circumstances, however, I’m fairly sure we’ll be late with the round 3 results. Ideally we’ll be able to check everything over and post the results late this weekend, but realistically it’ll probably happen some time next week. We’ll try not to delay the results too much, but we ask for your patience and understanding over the next couple of days as certain Real Life things take priority. Sorry + thanks guys -

Elimination Challenge 3 Officially Closed!

Posted by flyin' on Sunday, September 5, 2010 in News, Round 3

Big thanks to everyone who got their walls in on time! All of the entries look great – can say for sure that you guys didn’t disappoint for the final round of Clash :D We need some additional pieces of info from a few of you – check your emails – so if you can reply to apclash2010@gmail.com ASAP, that would be fantastic.

As of last count, we’re waiting on THREE walls. If you haven’t already gotten in touch with us to let us know your status (late? Dropping out?), please do so ASAP. (Note to the super wildcard agents for this final round – please stand by!!! There may be a super last minute spot for you!)

A reminder to the late wallers – you’re not only racking up a -5 point deduction per day (and running the risk of getting fewer if any comments from our uber judges), but (per the rules) we will NOT accept late entries 3 days after the deadline, since we want to make sure the uber judges have enough time to judge and so we can announce the round results on time. So if you’ve got something in the works, definitely get it in ASAP!

Update: kawaii-chicken has dropped out of the competition, so huge thanks to one of our super awesome secret wildcard agents who agreed to fill in for her on super short notice!

Update 2: Felesya also dropped out of the competition, so more thanks to our last super awesome secret wildcard agent for filling in on, well, negative notice xD;

Round 2 Elimination Challenge Results – RED Group

Posted by flyin' on Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Judging, News, Round 2

kawaii-chicken (76 points) vs. StormFangs (68 points)
yuukine (64 points) vs. channelqueen17 (60 points)
afwells (WILDCARD) (62 points) vs. Deto15 (85 points)
alenas (IC2 Winner) (70 points) vs. octofly (69 points)
ze (76 points) vs. chibimisao (77 points)

The Red Group had several amazingly tight races, with just one point separating the winners from the losers! As the Immunity Challenge + People’s Choice winner, alenas automatically advanced to the final round and also received +4 points on her final score. Congrats to Deto15 for tying with dalarty for the highest-scoring wall this round, and special thanks to afwells for filling in as super last minute wildcard for us!

(Because of rounding, total scores may be a point off from the sum of the technical/creative/meets theme/overall points.)

HUGE thanks to our awesome judges, who have once again kept up the high standard of scoring and critiquing for this round. Be sure to thank them properly!
All entries were judged by all 10 of our judges (Jay included). Each judge was given a minimum # of comments, but were given the option of commenting more if they wished.

Also, be sure to check out the BLUE group’s results! 8)
These groups were just our way of breaking all 19 contestants into manageable posts – no other meaning is associated with these groups :)

Post links to your AP-submitted walls here once you’re done uploading so we can pimp them properly! Thanks <3

Round 2 Elimination Challenge Results – BLUE Group

Posted by flyin' on Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Judging, News, Round 2

X-Angel-0 (78 points) vs. highknees (WILDCARD) (54 points)
dalarty (85 points) vs. shigemitsubaki (84 points)
Milfeulle30 (56 points) vs. Felesya (82 points)
Horseradish (WILDCARD) (60 points) vs. Albel-Ryuuji
Red-Eclipse (81 points) vs. AssasinXXX (WILDCARD) (71 points)

The Blue Group had several casualties this round, and also some amazing wildcards who agreed to fill in last minute for us. Red-Eclipse and shigemitsubaki as the Immunity Challenge People’s Choice winners had additional +5 points and +3 points respectively added to their final scores, but we were destined to have an insanely close showdown between dalarty and tsu! Congrats to dalarty for tying with Deto15 for the highest-scoring wall this round, and special thanks to highknees, Horseradish, and AssasinXXX for filling in as super last minute wildcards for us!

(Because of rounding, total scores may be a point off from the sum of the technical/creative/meets theme/overall points.)
