Jay and I are delighted to announce the final results of 2010 AP Clash of the Wallers! Thanks to all of the contestants for your incredible patience and understanding about the announcement delay as Jay and I worked through our respective Real Life Issues.
We had to use decimal points for the first time this competition to separate out the winners
dalarty snatched up 3rd place with her dark, original spin on chainsaw-wielding chicks; Deto narrowly beat out dalarty with his brooding, well-crafted “floral” vectors for a 2nd place finish; and Tsu, one of our round 3 secret wildcard agents, ran away with the highest score EVER given by the judging panel with her gorgeous realization of a fantastical scene, and took the extremely well-deserved 1st place win. Congrats to all the winners! Also, congrats to all of our round 3 finalists. There were many beautiful walls this round, so check them all out and give yourselves huge pats on the back. You guys were amazing! Thanks for sticking through these past three months with us, and for making Clash a success
One final round of thanks to our awesome panel of uber-judges, who as usual upheld an insanely high standard of scoring and critiquing for this final round of Clash.
All entries were judged by all 11 of our judges, as well as Jay and myself. Each judge was given a minimum # of comments, but were given the option of commenting more if they wished.
For the last time, please post links to your AP-submitted walls here once you’re done uploading so we can pimp them properly! Thanks <3
Massive Thanks + Feedback on 2010 AP Clash of the Wallers
Congrats once again to all of our Clash contestants, and to our top 3 winners – Tsu, Deto, and dalarty – Jay will be in contact re: your hawt prizes, so keep an eye out for that
If you have any immediate questions or issues, feel free to shoot us an email.
As co-conspirators for this year’s Clash, Jay and I are really proud of how successful the competition has been. all of this was made possible because of the help, love, and enthusiasm from the community – participants, uber-judges, helpers, and prize donors (Gids and Cy! <3). From the beginning when you guys pitched in to help us make promo siggies and wallies, spammed your friendslists about the competition (seriously, Jay and I were only expecting 10-20 people to join the competition at first!), to the “revival” of many esteemed wallers who joined the competition and/or agreed to judge (the all-star judging line-up turned out to be a VERY happy surprise!), and of course, all the beautiful walls that were made for the competition – it’s been an extremely gratifying 3 months to say the least, and we would like to thank all of you involved for your time and your generosity
As the final curtains close on this year’s Clash, we would love to get your feedback about how the competition went for you, and if there’s anything we could improve or change. Also, be sure to vote in the poll below – we’ll definitely take everything into consideration, if we decide to do Clash again next year
Cheers everyone, and… happy walling <3
Clash Finalist Interview #9 – shigemitsubaki
We had to hold off posting Tsu’s interview until round 3 results were announced, because we wanted to preserve her identity as one of round 3′s secret wildcard agents… but it turned out to be pretty good timing! From the meaning of her username to a very special Real Life project, read on to learn more about the 1st place winner of this year’s AP Clash of the Wallers!
Clash Finalist Interview #8 – Red-Eclipse
ALMOST last (but certainly not least) we have Red-Eclipse AKA Phoenix, who definitely deserved a Clash unofficial award for being the earliest submitted for most of the competition! She also shared her (joint) love with Boing and scrumptious typography, so read on for the rest!
Ealier I said *almost* last because this is the last finalist interview that’ll be published before results are announced! Which’ll definitely going to happen this weekend, so keep checking back in over the next two days
Clash Finalist Interview #7 – Horseradish
From his round 3 inspiration to Lemony Snicket, Horseradish candidly shares all. Read on to see what this round 2 wildcard thought about his Clash experience so far!
Clash Finalist Interview #6 – Secret Wildcard Agent (Bond)
Hey guys! Just dropped a quick status comment on the round 3 update post, but in a nutshell – I’m climbing out of my hole and starting to reclaim some personal time, so we should be able to deliver the grand finale of Clash by the end of this week at the latest! Also, thanks so much for your patience and support guys… it’s always tough when Real Life strikes with its hardest, but remembering all of your kind comments put a smile on my face over this past week, so seriously thanks again.
To help pass the time before the final results are announced, we’ll be continuing with our series of Clash finalist interviews – this time with one of our round 3 secret wildcard agents! The secret wildcard agent’s identity will be kept hidden until the final results are announced, but don’t let that stop you from trying to guess who this awesome last-minute secret wildcard agent is until then
A Quick Round 3 Update from Jay and flyin’
Hey guys, just wanted to give everyone a quick status update. Nearly all the judges’ scores and comments have been submitted – thank you uber-judges!
As timing would have it, Jay and I both got slammed recently with urgent Real Life issues. There’s been a death in my boyfriend’s family, so we’ve been spending quite a bit of time with his family. Jay is dealing with a different but extremely stressful situation, so waft some love her way.
Having been in you guys’ shoes, we know that waiting for (final) competition results isn’t fun. Given the circumstances, however, I’m fairly sure we’ll be late with the round 3 results. Ideally we’ll be able to check everything over and post the results late this weekend, but realistically it’ll probably happen some time next week. We’ll try not to delay the results too much, but we ask for your patience and understanding over the next couple of days as certain Real Life things take priority. Sorry + thanks guys -
Clash Finalist Interview #5 – Deto15
In this interview, Deto shares his thoughts on his Round 2 success (on tying for the highest score with dalarty, congrats again!) and a ridiculously HQ Mushishi desktop!
Clash Finalist Interview #4 – chibimisao
Walling, Rurouni Kenshin, and the game that chibimisao believes everyone should play at least ONCE in their life. Curious? Read on!
